Summary
Daniel Byman’s article Eighteen Years On: The War on Terror Comes of Age sheds sufficient light on the United States’ war against various terror groups in the past two decades. Indeed, the U.S. government has decimated leadership and significantly minimized attacks from various terror groups in the country following firm actions by the government. Nonetheless, some groups have proven resilient despite the drastic measures put in place. There exists a fair chance that developed countries will undergo continued low-level attacks, especially from terrorists linked with the Muslim world.
Reflection
The article highlights notable concerns articulated in the textbook readings, particularly those addressing the Presidential war authority on terrorism. The office of the president (POTUS) has stood firm against terrorist attacks since the 2001 catastrophe (9/11). Although this spell occurred while I was very young, I have a considerable amount of knowledge about it which I have acquired from the media, studies, and friends. Also, I have noted enormous efforts by the government on trying to eliminate and at the very least of it mitigate the risks of terrorism.

Analysis
The reading details the several regulations that Congress has passed, such as the Use of Military Force (AUMF). Such laws give the president more powers in the event of terror attacks. Byman (2019) finds that at least 104 Americans have died in the U.S. following such attacks the 9/11 attack, which is a remarkable decline linked with the substantive measures put in place by the government. Notably, the fight against terrorism has also been felled by foreign aid from the West and other nations globally.
Argument
Terrorism is a global concern that affects even the most peaceful countries. While there still exists occasional cases of attacks in the U.S., it is worth noting that the country has seen a tremendous improvement in the last two decades.
