Energy conservation refers to the overall efforts made by different individuals, businesses and other energy consumers in reducing the amount of energy used in their operations. In essence, a low amount of energy is consumed in the process of energy conservation. Additionally, energy conservation is made realistic through the adoption of efficient energy (Bishop, 2009). On the other hand, energy efficiency uses various forms of technologies to reduce the energy required by different entities to power their processes (Zambini, 2006). In this regard, energy efficiency and energy conservation affect the physical world and living things in various ways. First, the efforts to conserve energy have reduced the amount of harmful gases and other emissions that jeopardize the welfare of living organisms (Diwan & Dwivedi, 2009). Indeed, the livelihood of living organisms is enhanced through the creation of energy strategies that conserve the resources that living things survive on in their various habitats. Besides, the physical world is significantly transformed through the creation of facilities and tools that are aimed at producing efficient energy (Zambini, 2006). In addition to preserving the welfare of the living organisms, the adoption of efficient energy increases their population in their habitats. In the long run, the improvement of the population of living things like trees leads to the purification of air, thus improving life.

The nature of conserving energy and the use of efficient energy has addressed the challenge of environmental sustainability in various ways. For example, the reduction of emissions has reduced the damage to the earth’s protective layer, hence leading to sustainable living. Moreover, the influx of greenhouse gases is reduced through energy conservation (Diwan & Dwivedi, 2009). Ideally, the heightened need for more energy creates unsustainable use of resources needed to make the physical environment sustainable. Therefore, the term actively addresses the issue of environmental degradation. Efficient energy is safe for the environment and increases the sustainability of land and aquatic life (Zambini, 2006). The traditional means of using and consuming energy created energy production methods that killed both aquatic and terrestrial life. However, energy conservation and efficient energy are two approaches that have aided to address the goal of sustainability rather than jeopardizing the goal. The promotion of environmental sustainability has caused various debates among practitioners and stakeholders in the economy. The welfare of the environment cannot be ignored, and governments are constantly researching and developing technologies that allow users to use less energy (Diwan & Dwivedi, 2009). Additionally, the methodologies of producing energy have been restructured to use fewer natural resources whose depletion cannot affect the livelihood of the planet.

As a consequence of unsustainable energy use, energy conservation utilizes various strategies and approaches to achieve its goal. For example, the strategies include the manufacture of industrial and commercial products that use less energy compared to the traditional machinery that consumed a lot of power. Importantly, the less energy-consuming products can perform a better job compared to the heavy energy-consuming gadgets (Zambini, 2006). For instance, the traditional lighting bulbs consumed relatively high amounts of energy, resulting in an overall increase in the amount of energy required to power economies each day. However, due to technological research on energy conservation, modern lighting bulbs utilize a sustainable level of energy. The modeling of buildings has also been tailored to utilize the use of sunlight and reduce the need for energy. Secondly, energy conservation and energy efficiency are achieved through the adoption of production methods that have a manageable impact on the environment (Bishop, 2009). In recent years, renewable sources like solar and tidal energy have cropped up to replace the unsustainable energy used around the globe. The energy efficient means also uses infrastructure that reduces the energy lost in the process of transmission (Zambini, 2006). Renewable sources have less impact on living things and physical structures, and aid in the promotion of environmental sustainability.
