Also, good leaders know what they do, how they do it and the purpose of what they are doing. Students need to understand that engineering leadership should not be a rank but rather a choice. People choose to be leaders. In addition, successful leaders ensure that they are part of what they do.

Leaders should employ people who believe in what they do. Good leaders put their employees first and make them feel safe and as a result, the staff trusts them and feels confident at work. When this happens, people in an organization work together doing the best for the success of an organization and this makes it more profitable and productive.

As a leader, you should play a role in developing, creating, designing, evaluating, and implementing systems, services or even products. The success of most engineering companies lies in the ability to understand that people do not buy the products you develop but the reason you produce such items. This basically changes the way such companies market their products and services by making the consumers understand why they offer those services or goods.
