Ethics are the core determinants of people`s behavior. They differ from one community to another. They must be observed; otherwise, a person may be ostracized from the community. Jack Abramoff was accused of several felonies including fraud and tax evasion. He pleaded guilty of the charges against him after investigations were conducted. He and his partners were supposed to pay back the $25 million that they had stolen from the people. Jack also owed the state $1.7 million as evasion of tax charges. The internal biases and external pressures play a significant role in the decisions that Jack makes.
One of the pressures that he faces are his willingness to help people. His urge to win for the clients he was working for made him go to extreme measures to help them. He was also pushed by his career to become a leading lobbyist. Having many accomplishments as a lobbyist makes one rise higher in the rank of power. One of the external factors that affected him was the power that came with being a lobbyist (McCombs School of Business, 2016). It makes him arrogant, and he no longer analyses the situations he faced daily as aggressively as he did earlier. His involvement in charity may also have contributed to his internal pressures. By seeing how much good he was doing with stolen funds, he got the comfort that his actions were not as bad.

Jack faces prejudice that he was like all the other white-collar criminals. People believe the reason they steal is that no one dies in the process of theft. He is, however, blinded by the common idea that the people he was stealing from were wealthy and would not cause any damage to them. Being a lobbyist allows him to choose clients who were well oriented to his career. He wants to help the clients as much as he can, but the means he uses are not ethical.
In a similar situation, I would analyse all the situations that I face before taking action. Jack accepts that he overreacted by giving the people money as long as they needed his help. The act adds up to bribery, but he saw it as a way to assist people.
In conclusion, Jack Abramoff faces pressures from his career. His desire to get more power makes him arrogant and unable to analyze the situations he faces, which is the first step to his downfall. He also involves himself in tax evasion, which is a federal offence that cost him a large fine as well as his job. His involvement in charity may have contributed to the compromise of his morals.
