Three suspects, Bubba Hurt, Summer Breeze, and Skeeter Redrum were taken into police custody following Georgia police response to a call by Socks for Feet Outlet, Happy Town, linking the three to property theft within the stores. According to information provided by the store’s security officer, Bo Foot, the three suspects walked into the store on at around 1800hrs of May 20 th , 2016. They then headed straight to the shop’s Big Feet area. Here Bubba Hurt (Suspect 1) picked three dozen pairs of Big Guy brand socks, and concealed them in his pants (“CRJ 105- Crime and criminal behavior,” 2017, p. 2). The three suspect then proceeded to the Hammer section of the store where Skeeter Redrum (suspect 2) picked two dozen pairs of the Hang Nail Free brand socks and placed them into a purse that supposedly belonged to Summer Breeze (suspect 3). The three suspects then fled the crime scene when they were approached by the security officer (Boo Foot). They managed to prevaricate apprehension by running out of the store via its back parking lot. However, police hunt by the Georgia Police Department would lead to the arrest of all the three suspects and recovery of all the stolen pairs of socks. To develop a close understanding of this incident of property crime, it is important that special attention is accorded to the various elements of the case. The relevant components of the case include the charges and penalties, evaluation of the nature of the crime, and identification of the criminal typologies pertinent to the three suspects (“CRJ 105- Crime and criminal behavior,” 2017, p. 2)
Charges and Penalties for the Crime Committed by the three Individuals
Bubba Hurt (Suspect 1).
Charges
Bubba Hurt can be charged on the account of theft by taking. According to the publication by Strayer University, one can be charged with theft by taking when there is evidence that they unlawfully took, or are found in illegal possession or unlawful appropriation of any form of property belonging to another with the intent of depriving others the right to own their possessions. As long as the conditions above can be applied to property crime case, the manner in which the property in question is acquired is irrelevant (“CRJ 105- Crime and criminal behavior,” 2017, p. 30-31). The report by Strayer University goes a step further to offer insight into some of the important topics regarding theft. The publication describes ‘property of another’ as, “Property in which any person other than the accused has an interest but does not include property belonging to the spouse of an accused or to them jointly” (“CRJ 105- Crime and criminal behavior,” 2017, p. 30). According to the case file, there is sufficient evidence to attest that Bubba Hurt indeed illegally took three pays of Big Guy brand socks from a Socks for Feet Outlet in Happy Town. In addition, Bubba Hurst is eligible to have charges of theft by shoplifting pressed against him.

Penalties
The state of Georgia codes regarding penalties for theft provide that an individual found guilty of theft by stealing, and when the value of the stolen property is less than $500, is to be punished for minor wrongdoing. On the account of theft by stealing therefore, Bubba Hurst was only punished for misdemeanor since they total cost of socks he stole amounted to $432. Regarding shoplifting charges pressed against him, Bubba should receive punishment for committing a felony (severe misdemeanor). This is because the pair he shoplifted cost more than the excusable $300 limit. Felony attracts a prison term of not less than one, and not more than ten days (“CRJ 105- Crime, 2017, p. 23).
Skeeter Redrum
Charges
Just like Bubba, Skeeter Redrum is guilty of both theft by stealing and shoplifting. He was reported to have stolen two dozen pairs of Hang Nail Free socks from a Socks for Feet store in Happy Town. He is guilty of shoplifting since in the company of two other individuals, appropriated merchandise, failing to cater for the costs in the process, and had the intention of depriving the management of Socks for Feet store of possession of two dozen pairs of Hang Nail Free socks.
Penalties
Skeeter Redrum can only be punished for minor wrongdoing for his actions. His case of theft by stealing is judged as a misdemeanor. He only stole socks worth $240. This is short of the $500 cost mark where one can be punished for theft by stealing. Skeeter also faces no notable penalties for shoplifting. The value of the goods he shoplifted is less than $300; hence, this case is punished as for a misdemeanor. However, if ever found guilty of shoplifting, Skeeter is then subject to imprisonment, denial of probation, and cash fines of more or equaling $250 (“ICJ 105- Crime,” 2017, p. 23).
Summer Breeze
Charges
Unlike Bubba and Skeeter, Breeze is guilty of committing theft by receiving stolen property. Skeeter placed his stolen pair of socks into her purse before fleeing Socks for Feet’s premises. In addition, she is also guilty of shoplifting (“ICJ 105- Crime,” 2017).
Penalties
On the both counts of property crimes pressed against her, Summer should only be punished for committing minor offences. However, should she happen to be involved in act of shoplifting again, she stands being denied probation, risks being sent to prison and could pay up to more than $250 in fines (“ICJ 105-Crime,” 2017).
Nature of the Property Crime
The property crime at Socks for Feet store, Happy Town, was an amateur operation, committed by amateur criminals. The state of George has codes set to distinguish between amateur and professional criminals. First, amateur criminals commit little damage and do not target multiple victims in their operations. This provision in relevant to the crime by Bubba, Skeeter and Summer. Nobody apart from themselves was hurt during the crime. In addition, they only targeted Socks for Feet store, Happy Town. No reports linked them to another crime scene during that same day (“ICJ 105-Crime,” 2017). Secondly, the trio seem to have not designed an escape plan. They were later arrested at the same point, and still in possession of the socks they had stolen from Socks for Feet. Finally, even though, Bubba, Skeeter and Summer did not comply to the orders of the store’s security guard, it is hard to argue that they are the types of criminals who need incarceration to be stopped. They are more like criminals who would surrender when the odds of escaping were against them (“ICJ 105-Crime,” 2017).
Criminal Typologies applicable to the three criminals
Summer, Skeeter and Bubba can all be described as occasional property criminals, shoplifters to be precise. Describing them as occasional property criminals explains why the police were unable to find no prior criminal records on them. “CRJ 105-Crime” explains that occasional property criminals often lack official past criminality histories. In my opinion, Bubba, Summer and Skeeter are criminals, there is denying that, but even then, do not consider crime as their main way of acquiring finances. Bubba, Summer and Skeeter probably do not even identify themselves as criminals. They could be into crime for the thrill and to acquire high end products. They possibly opted to steal socks from Socks for Feet because they wanted to possess the luxurious brands without having to overspend.
