Watergate
Very important changes were experienced by Americans, and the events at Watergate created a lot of skepticism directed towards the government. After the scandal, the effects of Watergate were felt for years. On July 24, 1974, the Nixon Presidency was effectively ended. Supreme Court never changed; it remained to be supreme. It was held by the justices that not even the president was above the law, and Nixon's executive privilege claim was not agreed upon. Even today, the Court's curb on the power of executive remains of crucial importance.
Also, there resulted in an era of legal reform. Many of those participating in the scandal, even attorneys faced a legal proceeding. The American Bar Association rewrote its responsibility code.

Environmental concerns
On April 22, 1970, millions of people in The United States were on rallies celebrating the Earth day for the first time. Others in The New York City joined in "an ecological carnival" as called in the New York Times. In the past 50years, there have been environmental movements with them large organizations calling for legislative changes in the capital. Environmental movements bring people together, uniting the scattered and diverse actions, from where it gains strength. Though homogeneity still affects environmental movements, there exists an acknowledgment that everyone is needed and the problem cannot be solved on a single strategy.
American Indian Movement
American Indian Movement (AIM), an advocacy group was designed and organized to address issues which had relations with leadership, sovereignty, and treaties. It was formed to address the issues on poverty and brutality of the police against the Native Americans. From November 1961 to 1971, AIM took part in Alcatraz, an organization by seven Indian Movements. Since Founding of AIM, It has continuously led protests advocating interests of Indian Americans. AIM inspired cultural renewal.
