The Department of Nursing at Chamberlain University confirms that nursing is significant to our society as it promotes health, healing, and development. In addition, nursing practice helps with the prevention of disease, illness, disability, and injury (Adam, Osborne, & Welch, 2017). In the event that an individual is sick, the primary purpose of nursing is to reduce their distress and suffering levels. Further, the patients should be allowed an understanding of the disease processes in addition to their coping mechanisms, implications, and treatment. As such, in stating my mission statement, I draw so much from the essential ways of knowing as postulated by (White, Dudley-Brown, & Terhaar, 2016). The four patterns of knowing which form the basis of my mission statement include personal, aesthetics, empirical and ethical ways of knowing.

As a registered nurse, my mission statement is to outline evidence-based compassionate care regardless of age, disability, gender, religious, and national identities. Personally, I strongly believe that all human beings are entitled to quality care with equality and integrity. Through my nursing course studies and three-year practice, I have developed a caring attitude and to a greater extent, I always delighted when I am appreciated by the patients that I have helped to overcome illness (Urden, Stacy, & Lough, 2017). I plan to offer safe and competent care to satisfy the needs of both patients and their families. I will offer competent care employing the known empirical scientific knowledge. Such knowledge I have gained in my scientific researches which have been based on scientific methods and rational, deductive thinking (Olson & Stokes, 2016). I also believe that as a nurse, it is required for me to maintain a healthy lifestyle so as to be a good role model to my patients and to care for them to the best of my professional and mental abilities.
