A terrible oil spill occurred on 24th March 1989 in Alaska, Prince William Sound. Exxon Valdez's oil tanker hit the reef. There was oil spillage into the ocean of approximately 11 million gallons that affected nature, the area's economy, and the natural life. Many people make choices for themselves without understanding or minding how they affect others. Captain Hazelwood and Exxon made self-centered decisions without considering the fortune of others. The oil spill would have been prevented had they not ignored the Captain's drinking issues. Captain Hazelwood knew that he had a huge journey but still drank and put nature and the people at risk. Additionally, he should have stayed with the third mate and confirmed that he took his guidelines. Alcoholism is a serious issue that Exxon should not have overlooked. Exxon might have had mistaken thinking and lacked ethical opinions for nature and the lives to continue hiring with a drunkard Captain. Excess alcohol can harm the cerebrum. Therefore, Captain Hazelwood had no academic upgrading to consider it was morally and ethically wrong to drink when steering the tank. The rational explanation for the situation would have been for Exxon to dismiss Captain Hazelwood. In case they might not want to dismiss him, they should take him back to recovery. Once he has recovered, he should not straight be in control of the tank; instead, he should work his way back to steering. Furthermore, Captain Hazelwood should have observed what he wanted to do and decide to quit drinking. He should have put himself last after his position and his work.
