In the United States, divorce is a common process that takes place in many families. Through history, divorce was associated with infidelity and individuals inability to have offspring. These were the only two factors or reasons that could result in divorce. The United States has ended up recording high rate of divorces compared to other countries because of changing social dynamics relating to family and marriage management.
Divorce Acceptability
For many years, divorce has become an easy process since many courts allow it when couples report the failure of their marriages. Currently, divorce is considered to be a normal thing because families do break up for different reasons. Compared to generations ago, people do not showcase stigma actions to couples who opt for a divorce (Macionis, 2013). These days’ people are reported to encourage couples to get a divorce when faced with conflicts and family issues. In other words, divorce has become acceptable in our societies since many family issues have resulted in couples filing for divorces.

Stressful Marriages
Stressful marriage is a factor that is known to contribute to divorces among families. Couples spending most of their time working are likely to have problems with their marriages and relationships because there are less energy and time left for the family. In the end, children end up facing a hard time from their parents since they are not around (Macionis, 2013). Thus, it ends up resulting in divorce since raising children becomes hard to couples who spend most of their time working. Divorce is most common among young couples because they are getting familiar with married life and raising children.
Individualism
Studies have displayed that most working wives do not depend on their husbands for upkeep because most of them are successful and can take care of their needs. This factor can result in divorce since women may find it easier to leave marriages because they are financially stable. In this case, women are bound to leave unhappy marriages and look for other partners who can make them happy. The current society does not judge people who opt for divorces since they value their happiness and choices (Macionis, 2013). Individuals opt not to stay in marriages, and they are not happy. Therefore, women end up being less dependent on men who might result in high divorce rates.
Failure of Relationships
Most marriages are based on love and relationships. However, due to the changing trends, most people who get into marriages do not base it on love and relationship. In the end, people are likely to acquire divorces because there is no real love. Most marriages fail since individuals had focused their relationship on sexual desires. Hence, people prefer to end their marriages for new relationships which has romance and excitement. Marriages have resulted in people focusing more on themselves rather on families and their partners (Macionis, 2013). With individualism, partners can make their marriage end in divorce because they do not have time for their family.
Overall, the divorce rate in the United States is deemed to have increased compared to other years. Factors such as individualism, stressful marriages and failed relationships can result in divorce among the United States families. Additionally, most of the factors resulting to divorce are caused by couples. Some of this issue can be avoided instead of families opting for a divorce. However, the society and court allow divorce since it values people’s happiness and choices. Divorce is also considered to be a normal process because there are many cases reported of divorce in the United States.
