The role of animals in the life of human beings is significant and makes it essential to be considered. In the wake of genetically modified organisms, farming has negatively been affected. This is because animal farming has been industrialized through various channels, leading to downgrading in the level of care accorded to animals. The inhumane treatment that animals receive in the hands of big producing companies has led to the need to consider if killing animals for human use is inhumane. Considering that animals are bred for different purposes, I believe that killing them for human use is justified. I am, therefore, choosing the side that we should kill animals as a nutritional source, for money and jobs, and to keep traditions like thanksgiving.

This is because of the rich nutrient content that different animals have in their bodies. The nutritional value that is offered by animals makes it imperative to treat animals humanely. This is a factor that is promoted by the need to take care of animals to match the benefits that we get from the same animals. According to the article "An Animal's Place" in the New York Times by Michael Pollan ( https://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/10/magazine/an-animal-s-place.html ), animals in most ranches in America are kept outside in the cold with poor diets. This is a treatment that should not be given to animals as they deserve humane living conditions. If animals are kept in a humane condition, they can be killed for nutritional purposes without having gone through harsh conditions.

We should also kill animals for money and jobs. Animals have been acting as a source of income to many people who depend on them directly and indirectly. This is because animal products are beneficial in many ways. The selling of animal products to consumers and manufacturing companies have directly generated money to the animal farmers. On the other hand, animal farms and companies relating to animal products have employed thousands of workers. The workers depend on animals to make their lives. This is an implication that animal farming and their killings support the livelihoods of many people. This is an issue that should be considered to promote healthy feeding of animals and all-round humane conditions.

These are practices that have been in existence for quite some time. It can be noted that animals have been acting as the primary binding in many traditions. The role played by animals in these traditional practices forms one of the reasons to support the killing of animals. Recognizing the importance of animals in cultures, especially thanksgiving, provides the rationale for the humane treatment of the same animals. This means that as much as we should kill animals for traditional purposes, we should consider them as creatures that have some fundamental rights.
