Federal regulation and civil law is the topic I see as being most relevant to the job am seeking to obtain once I have earned my degree. Federal regulation and civil law provides labor protection laws for employees in the workplace, who were previously at the mercies of their employers. However, Self-employed workers are exempted from the laws. These laws include the employee’s right to Work, Health and Safety Standards and protections in the workplace. The federal regulation and civil law ensures the safety standards and protection of workers in the workplace by prohibiting any work place activities that exposes workers to risks. The federal regulation also made health insurance coverage a right for employees. The law states that fifty or more full time employed persons in a business should be offered minimum health insurance coverage. Additionally, the federal regulation and civil law gives workers the right to unemployed benefits, leaves, social security and protection against discrimination in the work place (Steingold, 2017). It is important for everyone, both employed and unemployed, to have knowledge about federal regulation and civil law.
This has changed the way I think about and make decisions about legal and ethical issues. One is that I have realized that equality in the work place is very important (Sharma, 2016). That employees should be given equal opportunities without discriminating them because of their race, age, gender or sexuality (Johnson, 2016). It is important that everyone is fairly treated despite the environment they are in. I have been able to apply the aspect of equality in my daily activities especially with my friends. I make new friends from diversified cultures without discriminating them and also treat them equally. Additionally, I have learnt that formulating and respecting rules and regulations is also an important aspect in any professional field and also in life. Rules enable govern and lead our lives in the right direction, especially by focusing on good ethical behaviors. I have rules in my life that I live by every day because they guide me to doing what is best for me and the people around me. I have also learnt to respect rules in school, at home and everywhere so as to avoid penalties incurred. Relatively, employees and employers should be sufficiently informed about the employment law. Both parties are governed by the employment rules and regulations and failure to respect and adhere to the rules, legal action is always taken. Therefore it is important that ethical issues like equality and respect are embraced in life.
