Women are no longer subjected to discrimination because of their sex as it was in the previous century and before. One of the best measures that have been taken by society is by putting up laws that protect the rights of women to bring equity to various sectors that saw women face discrimination (Allen, 2018). Feminists have different perspectives on the law, but they share the same goal of fighting for equal rights for a person regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, and their disabilities.
Throughout their history, the black community has been discriminated due to their skin color. The discrimination ranges from slavery in America to colonialism in Africa and then to pure racism that has been evident in the near past all over the world. Feminists from different backgrounds come together to demand that racism and other forms of discriminations be shunned by the community (Allen, 2018).

Black feminists, however, do not feel that there are equal rights for people of all colours and that the black community, especially women, is still discriminated because of their skin colour, among other factors. Black feminists have come out through the media to air their views on how the various laws around the world that have helped women gain equity and equality from the world. Black feminists claim to fight for the rights of black women as they are often ignored by the other feminist factions and the rest of the globe (Çalışkan & Reissner, 2019). One of the best examples of the black feminist group is The Combahee River Collective Statement, which was a collective of black feminists who came together in 1974. Their main objective was to fight racial, sexual heterosexual, and class oppression that was being ignored by white feminists and to ensure that they came up with analyses that would confirm that the significant sources of such oppressions were interlocking (Çalışkan & Reissner, 2019) .
In conclusion, regardless of a person’s background, their race or their opinions, feminists have come together to fight the different forms of discrimination in the past and the present. the Comedee River Statement proves that with the right mentality and strength in the society, several rights can be made and others challenged by the people to help promote equity and equality in the world.
