What are the three questions you would ask this patient?

The case involving the 24-year-old woman is prevalent among many women who are not able to recognize their first signs of pregnancy, especially if they are first-timers. For other women, noting whether they are pregnant or not can be easy for them even before they miss a period in the first few weeks of pregnancy (Young, 2018). For this case, some of the questions to be asked include;

Finally, have you experienced any changes regarding your appetite or even sleeping habits?

The primary goal for asking these specific questions is first to build a strong connection with the patient and asses how she feels about her current status.

What would be her gestational age and expected due date?

The gestational period is the period between the conception and birth. The average length of the human gestational period is estimated to be two hundred and eighty days or approximately 40 weeks (Shiel, 2018). On the other hand, the measurement of the age of pregnancy is called the gestational age. According to UpToDate (2020), the gestational age of this patient is nine weeks and three days. Her expected due date is 21 st March of the coming year.

3. How would you address her concern about not feeling the baby move?

Baby movement is one of the most exciting moments of being pregnant. However, for this case, it is too early to start feeling the baby’s movements since it is experienced in the 16th and 25th week of being pregnant (WebMD, 2020). Therefore no movement is notable by this time, especially if she is a first-timer. She should be aware that different issues, as well as concerns, accompany every stage of pregnancy. It is advisable to go to the hospital as soon as you suspect being pregnant to receive education on various aspects of pregnancy such as diet and safe medications (Stoppler, 2019). Most importantly, one need to go for checkups to check on the well-being of the fetus.
