Artificial Intelligence (AI) involves the synchronization of intelligent technologies in developing concepts that are essential in implementing information tools. The field also focuses on covering the sophisticated processes of human intelligence. The first function of the AI is to increase human thinking and secondly to apply the artificial intelligence of a computer to understand the thinking of people. Artificial Intelligence has a significant role in the practice of nurses. It has revolutionized the management of health records enabling easier access to data in real time as asserted by McGonigle and Mastrian (2017). It has also enabled the management of a large amount of data that would have otherwise been difficult to handle. Artificial intelligence has also bettered the management of the patient as health records can be stored on both long term and short term basis enabling a frequent reference.

Connectionism, on the other hand, is a branch of cognitive science that applies various aspects such as computer modeling to explain the intellectual abilities of human beings. It also utilizes the neural networks which can be likened to the nervous system in the human beings. In nursing care, the idea of connectionism can be applied in connecting different end users hence enabling the sharing of information that is crucial to the treatment and management of the patient. It also guarantees the sharing of information among clinicians that can act to improve the health of the patient by increasing consistency and efficiency. It also enables all other clinicians to access information relating to the nursing department in what is referred to as interoperability.

A standardized terminology can be described as a common nomenclature or language by extension that is consistent with a certain group of users ( Häyrinen et al . 2010). The use of such terminologies in healthcare is important to document the assessment of clients and other outcomes efficiently. Without the use of these consistent terminologies the impacts of nursing care on patients risks going unnoticed and unrecognized. The terminologies are vital in developing the nursing knowledge base. The terminologies will foster the development of the knowledge base by enhancing access a factor that will improve the evidenced-based management in nursing practice. The use of standardized terminologies ensures that medical personnel and clinicians can understand each other hence providing a sense of continuity in care delivery. According to McGonigle and Mastrian (2017), it also enhances comparison among caregivers and also monitors trends by the help of data aggregation.
