My future professional practice is in nursing as a nursing practitioner. I intend to work as a nurse professionally. Currently, there is a shortage of nurses and professional caregivers. Nurses today provide most of the primary care in the United States. Being the primary caregiver, the nurse serves as many other things for the patient. First, the nurse is a communication link between the patient, the doctor, the family, and any other concerned parties. As a nurse, one is a holistic caregiver and being in direct contact with the patient; it is important always to know how to relate with them and their families. They must consider their social, cultural and religious belief while offering the best care for the patient. In their role, the nurse is more involved with ensuring that the experience of the patient is good. They are also expected to ensure that the chances for medical errors are reduced thus protecting the hospital from unnecessary costs ( Lasala, 2017) . Currently, the increasing need for transcultural nursing has made most of the nurses to opt for community-based health practice and diversification when it comes to gender balance.
Emerging Trends
There seems to be a trend of the continued movement of nurses into community care. Most nurses are opting for community-based health practice. Nurses are opening up practices to help in the management of patients and work for private companies. Community-based nursing came about to counter the shortage of nurses. Similarly, in the recent past, nurses have diversified in the area of gender balance. Originally, females formed the majority of the population in the nursing sector, but now even males are joining the field. Also, considering the great demand for nurses, the academic prowess of nurses is expected to increase ( Chang, Lai & Hwang, 2018). There is a rising demand for well grown, and knowledgeable, and experienced nurses.

Theory for Emerging Trends
The most appropriate theory for many of the changes in the trends in nursing is Cultural Competence Theory. This has increased the need for transcultural nursing making it necessary for nurses to be as diverse as possible to be able to fit into any culture. It also necessitates the need for competence among the nurses. They are required to be as well educated as possible to fit into the competitive world of nursing (Roy, 2018).
