Gastrointestinal complaints are rather common. Some of these disorders affect the gastrointestinal (digestive) system while others go beyond the digestive tract to other organs in the body. For these reasons, allied health professionals require proper background research in every complaint made (Simon et al., 2015). The research has to provide relevant findings of a patients’ medical history and a physical examination. Additional tests may be incorporated to assist health specialists to make evidence-based decisions regarding the outcome of evaluations. In the reported case of Mrs. Willis, I can perform additional evaluations to help diagnose her condition. Questions regarding her eating behaviors are a consideration in her case. Information regarding her difficulties in swallowing is important, presence of blood in her vomit, and for how long. I can also enquire about her frequency in bowel movements. Most importantly, her gynecologic history.

Based on the patient’s evaluation, specifically her right upper quadrat pain that worsens after taking meals. And the complaints of nausea and vomiting. My differential diagnoses would be possible problems of the liver, bile ducts or gallbladder (Moleski, 2019). The mentioned complaints could be caused by the interference of the usual physiological status of organs. In this case, the pain originating from her right upper quadrant is a symptom acute cholecystitis of which becomes my diagnosis for this case. The test to confirm the diagnosed condition is an imaging test from computerized tomography (CT) scan that would reveal the pictures of the inflamed gallbladder ( Wertz et al., 2018)

My first line of protocol for treating cholecystitis would be the administration of antibiotics to fight infection. An accompanying medication would be pain killers to help relieve the pain in her right shoulder.
