During our visit, I was impressed by the exhibits that were strategically positioned all over the place. As such, the exhibits such as the riverboat cruises, the tram rise, and old Courthouse stood out for me during the entire visit because they helped me gain a new magnificent perspective about the whole place. Such exhibits further inspired me to explore new heights with the desire of finding out more information.

From a local history perspective, the Gateway Arch has a great significance culturally and symbolically. For instance, it typifies the pioneer spirit of women and men who had initially won the West during those days as they strived to conquer other new frontiers. It is for this reason that it has been adopted as an iconic image in St. Louis given that it has been featured in many aspects of culture in the city. From a local perspective, the Gateway Arch is also a treasured symbol in the State of Missouri. This explains why the Arch is usually seen by an approximated four million visitors each year, a phenomenon that can be attributed to its significance from a local history perspective.

I think the construction of the Gateway Arch was a net positive for the city. It has been a major cultural and tourist attraction symbol in the town. Given that it was designed with public access, observation area and the visitor center, the Gateway Arch has impacted positively to the city in terms of a high influx of tourists visiting the Arc due to its culture and symbolism. It is estimated that four million tourists have been visiting the Arch each year, thus demonstrating the impact it has had on the local tourism industry in the town. Given its magnificent design, the Gateway Arch has received recognition and awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Institute of Steel Construction.

Furthermore, it is important to note that the seizure of more than 40 city blocks was not overreached in terms of Eminent Domain. It was a necessary part of progress since it helped in the conservation of symbolism and culture of the town.
