Equality is among the most sort things in the quest for freedom and human rights. Gender equality particularly has become the center of discussion in every part of the world, with people advocating for women empowerment and equality. Promoting gender equality is challenging, although a lot of progress has been made. Like any other country in the world, advocates of human rights are fighting for gender equality by empowering women in Nepal. This project aims to address volunteers going to Nepal in helping them understand the status of gender inequality and the representation of women in the country. The main question for this project seeks to provide a message to the volunteers to help them understand gender inequality in Nepal, "Is there a message that you might have for us as newcomers that could help us understand women's equality in Nepal?" In Nepal, women have no equal rights with men in terms of their voice and agency. This project involved interviewing individuals to get their view on issues of women equality in Nepal and what they think should be done to promote women’s equality in Nepal. The interviews were crucial in identifying issues facing Nepali women. The main themes identified from the project are agency voice and representation and emerging culture. This paper will explore these themes to create a better understanding of the gender inequality situation in Nepal.
Agency, Voice, and Representation
The agency, voice, and representation of women show the maturity of gender equality in a country. Agency is the ability of individuals to make their own choices depending on their views and acting on them. Voice is the ability to make contributions and be heard in discussions and important matters while representation is having individuals in power representing the needs of a certain group of individuals. In Nepal, women lack agency, voice, and representation. Men dominate positions of power, and women just fulfill their gender roles defined by the Nepali tradition, religion, and culture. The most notable point about this theme is the emphasis on empowering women, allowing them to choose and allowing them to make their own decisions.

Many interviewees have pointed out that equality in Nepal could be fostered by empowering women by encouraging them to take the lead (Avery) and providing support to their choices and course. Many interviewees (Victoria, Alex, Alicia, Emily) have all noted that women should be given more positions in power, such as in parliament. The note that equality can be achieved by "supporting women in power" and all others doing well. This can be done by respecting women and listening to them. Maggie notes that Nepal women are strong and can serve as advocates for change in their society. Understanding the power they have could help the women take the leap and take the lead, as Avery emphasizes. The current system in Nepal, as many interviewees noted, is that it shuts out women. This cycle can be broken by strengthening women's voices by empowering them individually or through networks. According to Alex, including women in the positions of power will increase representation, which will, in turn, cause "social change at the government level."
The responses helped me understand the measures that could be taken to solve gender inequality in Nepal and other parts of the world. Gender inequality is a challenge to most parts of the world. The responses are full of knowledge and ideas that could be employed in the fight against gender inequality in society. According to most interviewees, gender equality can be promoted by empowering women by respecting them, supporting them, and letting them make their choices. This is important as it can be used to counter the problem of gender inequality in Nepal and other parts of the world. Victoria's view, "Female representation in parliament and other positions of power, to lobby and advocate for the voice of women and those marginalized," sums it all by shedding light on the importance of women empowerment. The message of people working to promote gender equality would be to continue the fight by empowering and supporting women until the goal is achieved.
Emerging in Culture
Culture plays an important role in promoting gender inequality in most societies. Most cultures have social expectations for every gender in the form of gender roles. Gender roles act as the foundation for gender inequality. In most cases, the lack of change is due to the inadequate knowledge of various cultural norms. Lifestyle in Nepal is dominated by culture and traditions, which govern what people do in society. People in Nepal are very tight about their culture, where women have little choice and are dominated by men. The efforts to change gender roles could reduce the tensions around gender inequality and promote women empowerment individually and collectively.
Culture cannot be ignored in the fight against gender inequality. According to most interviewees, immersing oneself in Nepalese culture could help understand the achievements made and what can be done to bring social change in the future. Understanding, learning, and respecting the Nepalese culture is essential in this fight. For foreigners aiming to promote gender equality in Nepal should understand that a different approach should be used other than the western one. This involves first embracing the culture with an open mind and respect it, just like the Nepalese citizens do.
The interviewees' responses helped me understand the roles played by culture in promoting gender inequality and how culture can be used to promote gender equality. The gender roles defined by culture plays an important role in promoting gender inequality. To manage fighting gender inequality, one needs to understand the culture and embrace it. It is through cultural and spiritual awareness that gender inequality can be defeated in society. The most important thing would be to understand and respect the culture of the society visited by the volunteers and other parties interested in fighting gender inequality. Foreign methods should not be used as they show disrespect and fail to align with the locals. Brooke's statement, "cultural awareness for traditions and practices while working towards equality," captures the whole of them of an emerging culture. Equality can only be achieved through cultural awareness.
Conclusion
The main aim of the project was to shed light on issues of gender inequality in Nepal. The interview responses provided much insight into Nepal and gender inequality. According to the responses, gender inequality is dominant in Nepal, where men dominate women in all positions. This is attributed to the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual beliefs. This inequality can be fought through women empowerment, which would involve giving more positions of power to women, respecting their choices, and giving them a voice. This information is very important to all advocates of gender equality either in Nepal or in other parts of the world. Through these findings, NGOs, Activists, and women can understand how to deal with gender inequalities. This paper has improved my knowledge of gender inequalities, which will help me handle my next assignment with ease.
