The war on drugs has been on for a long time in various countries. The problem of drugs has put intense pressure on the enforcement of law. Children are getting addicted and levels of crimes related to drugs have increased significantly. It appears every time laws are put in place, drug dealers look for ways of going against them. To make sure that strategies and laws that have been put in place work, six goals have been identified to guide the drug enforcement techniques and programs (Gaines & Kappeler, 2014). The goals have been listed below:
Reduce gang violence related to trafficking of drugs and prevent development of strong planned groups of criminals
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Arresting or interrupting the activities of drug dealers can be one of the ways to achieve this goal. Drug dealers form strong groups that are used in doing business and performing other criminal activities. Control crimes in the streets committed by drug users.
People exposed to drugs or those using drugs have high chances of committing crimes. They have to look for ways of sustaining their drug supply. Arresting and charging them can help control the crimes.
Enhance the social well-being, economic and health status of drug users.
Drug users can be admitted in to rehabilitation centers and treated accordingly to help them stop using drugs. Some programs, like small businesses can be set up as a starting point for them to improve their economic status.
End drug dealing on the streets and improve the quality of life in urban communities
Ending drug dealing can be achieved through arresting and charging the drug dealers. In doing so, people in the urban communities will not be able to access the drugs.
Prevent children from experimenting with drugs
Parents have the greatest fear over their children using drugs. They tend to influence each other in to using these drugs. Dealing with drug dealers is one of the ways to prevent them from accessing the drugs. Topics on drugs to taught in schools for sensitisation.
Protect the integrity of criminal justice institutions
It can be achieved through dealing with the drug dealers and ensuring that they are charged accordingly.
