The primary and fundamental role of the Government in any state or country is solely in maintaining social peace. This is established through basic functions the government upholds on behalf of its people which include, protection of human rights, defend citizens from external enemies and attacks, improve and provide efficient healthcare services, manage economic conditions of the state, among others. In recent years, however, there has been a clear distinction of effective leaders that are in the government. Power is an inevitable force and factor that affects all management functions. In all its categories, power can be used for either selfish personal gain or a social improvement purpose. The relationship between these two spectrums of power is that all leaders are expected to choose what form to use. If engaged in a government position, my main purpose would be to effectively work towards improving the quality of life rather than to gain power as the other distinctive category of leaders would.

The current government needs to usher reformation for ensuring that the quality of life for its citizenry is of prior importance. Being part of the government, therefore, requires that I can work to establish effective strategies of vigilance that bring about the well-being of the citizens that voted me in. The interconnection of social problems has a great impact on the quality of life. It is the government's role to ensuring that crime, poverty, and punishment are not on the opposite ends of the spectrum. These three prevalent social problems act as the main focus for every leader who is in the government.

The government's role is to safeguard the natural human rights that all its citizens deserve. The protection of human rights which includes the right to live, right to liberty, and the right to possess property, is meant to drive out sustainable prosperity, unite and, strengthen all families. Ignorance of human rights leads to the abandonment of social ethics as well as increase the levels of discrimination experienced in society. It is for that reason the government’s responsibility to ensure that every citizen is treated equally preventing selfish ambitions that lead to social problems caused by ignorance of basic human rights.

Improving the quality of life in society involves initiating programs and policies such as income tax, economic development projects, public assistance services, and community improvement projects, among others. Through such initiatives, the population can develop and improve the quality of their lives. The sole purpose of having a government is to have a guiding force that not only manages development in all sectors but as well provides its members with support towards achieving the best they can. The government, therefore, should take care of businesses through creating opportunities, protecting rights, economic stabilization, and development, hence safeguarding the social and economic interests of its people. Furthermore, every society is faced with the need for a better healthcare system. As a leader, one should focus on improving public health through the introduction of new and effective public health strategies that enable the government to efficiently treat people and help the disabled and vulnerable members of the society enjoy quality life as they cope with the difficult conditions they are facing.

In conclusion, for any government role administered to me, I prioritize improving the quality of life rather than gaining power. For instance, I would be more enticed to join the government for the social purpose of improving the quality of life of every individual. My actions and legacy will generate a name for me and that gives me a form of positive power in the society. On the contrary, if the sole purpose of joining the government is to gain power, I might be more inclined to selfishly focus on developing a name rather than being humble and focus on the population's needs.
