After a successful review of the Psychological Care of the Elderly, several things came out as surprising to me as a reader. First is the fact that the elderly rarely trust others. Next is that the elderly lack a sense of identity in society. Lastly, the aged are reliant on other members of the community for their personal care.

I initially thought that these were myths. I have heard these issues several times, but having come across them in a classroom set up and getting to know the extent to which they affect the larger majority of the elderly makes it more surprising (Chan et al. 2016). It is factual that the aged are egoistic and would rarely come up for help, and as such, society must care and pamper them till they come through their recovery period ( Flesch et al. 2017) . Most of them are hard on themselves and would not request any society assistance ( Köhler et al. 2017) . They lack a sense of identity in that they do not resemble so much what the community needs ( Flesch et al. 2017) . As a result, they feel off place and would rather spend time alone than with the youth to know what is happening in the new society, which they view as a strange happening in the first place.

Nurses have a huge role to play in influencing attitudes among caregivers and the public. Nurses can educate the public on the need to address the ego and health standards of the elderly ( Kossek et al. 2019) . Nurses can work out plans to see the old have frequent medical check-ups, giving them hope in life as they get more concerned about their private lives ( Köhler et al. 2017) . Generally, nurses can do better to affect the elderly's lives because they have prior knowledge of them and understand how the care giving system works already.
