1. Discuss the health care administration barrier or issue you want to address for your capstone project paper. Briefly explain the proposed change plan for the problem or issue. Find a peer-reviewed article that demonstrates support for the problem or issue you have proposed. Post the article using APA format. Provide two or three sentences about the article explaining why it supports your proposed plan.
As a capstone project, I’d like to focus on the attitudes of leaders and workers in health care institutions towards the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its transformations to the health industry. Sterbenz & Ching (2017) explore some of these attitudes, especially when physician leaders have had to shift their focus from quantity to quality and towards teamwork through coordination of care. I chose this subject because the education curriculum will not change soon enough to reflect industry working conditions. Therefore, students transitioning to work from school will face difficulties as the skills they have been taught are obsolete while the standard qualifications have a steep learning curve. Sterebenz & Chang (2017) conducted a systematic literature review, and their findings support my position, especially on the skills required to be successful post-ACA.

2. Describe the "project assumptions" you have identified in your logic model. Why have you made these assumptions? What evidence exists to support your assumptions?
The main assumption I have made in my logic model is how the education curriculum always lags behind industrial trends, especially when preparing students for real market conditions. The assumption was sourced from an article by Cavanaugh (2013), who noticed the lack of financial education in American school systems and the historical trend where it would take longer to update curriculum to modern standards successfully.
3. Provide an article that is an example of qualitative research. Give a brief overview of the article and why you think it is substantial for your chosen health care topic.
The article by Salmond & Echevarria (2017) is an example of qualitative research. It is a critical discussion using sources from existing literature to explore the roles of nurses in the changing landscape of ACA. The article is important for my chosen health care topic because it not only explores the driving forces for change but also discusses the roles nurses need to take to drive the change.
4. Identify an article that is not qualitative research. Provide an overview of why you think this article is substantial in providing evidence-based support for your health care barrier or issue.
On the other hand, the article by Lindenauer et al. (2014) is an example of quantitative research with a significant contribution to my position. The article concludes that while the changes introduced by ACA could significantly improve health care, most of the measures lacked clinical meaningfulness, and their unintended consequences are yet to be examined.
