Health maintenance visit is a platform that focuses on health promotion and disease prevention mechanisms. An annual health examination is highly recommended to women because it improves the delivery of preventive services and diminishes the patient's health concerns. The health maintenance visit offers a chance where physicians can give preventive care and counseling on how to lead healthy lives (Baill & Castiglioni, 2017). At the time of the health maintenance examination, women's social, medical, and family histories are deliberated.
The most effective type of counseling for women aged between 19 and 36 is behavior counseling. The health maintenance visit across this population is vital to mainly deliberate on the woman's reproductive plans. For instance, if the woman is not ready to get pregnant, then I would advise her on the best types of contraceptives to use. However, the majority of women at these age brackets are sexually active. Hence, it is essential to discuss with women the risk of getting sexually transmitted diseases (Riley et al., 2015). I would advise them on the various preventive measures such as condom usage, abstinence, change of sexual practice, and vaccination to decrease the spread of the STIs. The World Health Organization recommends women screened every year for gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia (Riley et al., 2015). Therefore, I would also advise her to be screened for STIs.

Besides, due to the increased incidences and mortality rates of women as a result of cervical cancer, I would, therefore, encourage the woman to undergo a cancer screening once every year. Also, due to individuals' family history of cancer, the screening can enhance early diagnosis and increase the chances of survival. Also, it is estimated that approximately 14.4 percent of women at the age of 22 years and above have type 2 diabetes (Baill & Castiglioni,2017). Thus, it is also crucial for this age group to be examined for diabetes type 2. This form of screening will help these women to change their unhealthy behaviors, as most of these diseases are a result of an unhealthy diet.
In conclusion, health maintenance examination emphasizes disease prevention mechanisms and health promotion. The basic form of counseling to women aged between 19 and 36 is behavioral counseling. Women at these age brackets are highly likely to get diabetes, STIs, and cancer. Health maintenance visits will assist them in learning on various disease prevention measures as well as their underlying health conditions.
