Health is a critical scope as it bears individuals’ wellbeing, which works parallel to the growth and development of nations. It facilitated the development of a Bar code medical administration magnifying technological innovations and improvement to reduce health risk and safety concerns. Its adoption bears room for further enhancement with the use of sufficient measures with the capability of achieving the fete.
Bar code medical administration (BCMA) adoption targeted reduction of medical errors subject to enhancing the accuracy of operations, reduce the rate of incurring errors, and improve efficiency in the delivery of services. Health authorities target enhancing the livelihoods of citizens’ subject to enhancing health systems subject to the adequate meeting of guidelines dictated by relevant authorities. Over the years, the healthcare system witnessed improvements subject to growth and development of nations across the globe facilitating technological innovations. The latter facilitated the development of a bar code reader bearing a reading system for scanning a barcode (from a patient’s wristband) to verify a patient’s identity (Jimenez, 2017). It subsequently offered nurses the platform to scan and decode the read numbers on a software transcending to verification. It had a ripple effect by offering nurses an efficiency concerning the right administration of medicine, to the correct patient, accompanied by the perfect dose (Amer, 2013). Other factors it facilitated include the exact route and time, thereby named the five rights of medication administration (Jimenez, 2017). The system is improvable by further infusion of technological innovations such as AI technology to facilitate the efficiency of service delivery. It would further enhance the current protocol for reducing medical errors by enhancing vigilance in biometric verification. Additionally, enhancing communication systems for nurses like adopting a secure platform for a medical center will improve reducing the chances of medical errors from occurring. Securing work processes within hospitals which are vulnerable to errors is a step hospital should consider going by further adoption of technological innovations in health systems.

The current protocol bears the BCMA technique’s adoption before offering medication; however, there is room for improvement. The adoption of further technological innovations such as AI technology to patient scanning would reduce the time utilized for running the records to a system. Technological innovations and advancements are essential instruments for the reduction of health risks accompanied by safety concerns.
