Healthcare systems are sophisticated and or a consistent change across different health services levels and contexts. The management strategies required by the health leaders and managers to respond to the emerging and current issues are not entirely understood. Most of the early research studies focus on examining leadership in companies, with little emphasis being done on leadership effectiveness in healthcare. Effective leadership is a critical element of the healthcare systems and has a wide range of functionalities in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations. Hospitals and healthcare, in general, has its own unique set of challenges, and consequently, there can only be unique solutions to the healthcare challenges ( Menaker, 2009 ). This means that leadership in healthcare has to use unique strategies to solve healthcare problems. The research looks forward to examining and present the most effective leadership strategies in healthcare.
Leadership Definition
There is no specific, out of the box definition of leadership. Several writers, opinion-makers, scholars, and researchers of this subject have come up with different definitions of leadership, based on the context under which it applies. My definition of leadership takes a broader context; it inculcates thoughts on traditional leadership and modern time leadership to provide a comprehensive description of leadership.

Healthcare Challenges and Problems
Healthcare leadership experiences a set of unique challenges. The first problem healthcare leadership experiences are hiring, training, and retaining high-quality health workers and in a world undergoing a myriad of challenges in regards to nurses’ shortages, extensive resources requirements to train and equip physicians and nurses. A healthcare leader, therefore, has the challenge of attracting the best in the industry, motivating the healthcare staff to further their education, providing the necessary training at work, and ensuring the team remains in the facility for the long-term ( Gifford et al., 2006 ). Another problem the healthcare leadership has to deal with is the need to introduce change in a workforce that is not ready to embrace new developments as part of their new procedures. Leaders play a critical role in ensuring growth is implemented.

Background
As a leader of a company that aims to compete amongst its peers in a highly competitive globalized and modern world, they think of formulating their strategic plans and leadership styles based on the works of Kouzes and Posner in their book named “The Leadership Challenge.” The book is about the kind of leadership that brings all the difference in the organization and creates the environment under which the workers turn the challenging opportunities into recommendable and remarkable success ( Gupta and van Wart , 2015). Kouzes and Posner’s (2007) work is, therefore, a good point of reference for its leadership concepts suitable for providing guidelines and a foundation that company executive leaders can build on. The authors, Kouzes and Posner, completed a comprehensive study on the things that make some leaders more effective at what they do.

Cashman (2018) talks about leadership benefits and understand their primary objectives in life as well as adapting their leadership talents to emphasize on service “to enhance the lives of all people and all things” (p. 77). Kouzes and Posner have also adopted very similar values and a services-based approach.

Healthcare leaders determine the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery at their facilities. When the leaders are influential, the service delivery is efficient, and both the healthcare staff and the patients are satisfied. A successful leader uses effective leadership strategies to see the success of their organizations ( Robbins & Davidhizar, 2020 ). Some of these strategies include their attribute and skills, empowering and motivating employees, creating a conducive working environment, being at the forefront in implementing change.
