Healthcare exchange is generally a term that is used to describe the health insurance marketplace. This is a service that allows all persons, families and businesses in all states to enrol in affordable medical insurances. As a result, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been adopted. It has led to a shift in medical reimbursement models from quantitative to qualitative, thus resulting in a rapid change in healthcare service provision. Therefore, this paper seeks to explain the drastic impacts that the outpatient market concept is facing as a result of the rapidly changing healthcare exchanges policy.

Firstly, ACA has resulted in the growth of the outpatient market. This implies that the rate of outpatient treatments has increased. In this case, the contributing factor that is steering up outpatient treatment is the desire for healthcare units to be able to adopt a population health management system which will promote service delivery. Among the outpatient treatment centres that are growing includes the ambulatory surgery centre, which specializes in elective outpatient surgical processes.

Also, the healthcare exchanges have resulted in increased payments for rural health service providers which acts as an incentive of attracting more practitioners. As a result, with more practitioner, outpatient treatment is enhanced with the increased number of service providers; thus, promoting people's health conditions. Besides, it has resulted in coverage of preventive services like mammograms without imposing any deductible fees (Elwood, 2013). Hence, making such services available to all persons at affordable prices.

Additionally, ACA has resulted in increased business profits among outpatient business operators. In this case, people opt to get treated from their homes instead of incurring extra charges of getting admitted to hospitals. As a result, this results in flooding of clients in outpatient marketplaces, thus, increasing their profits. Also, this may harm outpatient models (Feemster & Au, 2014). In this case, when medical errors, a patient may relay a complaint to departments such as OSHA; thus, resulting in interruption or suspension of services which results in losses.

Conclusively, the healthcare exchanges are of significant advantage to consumers. In this case, its significant purpose is to ensure consumers receive affordable outpatient treatments. Thus, this should result in improved health statuses. Also, it has resulted in the promotion of outpatient procedures hence resulting in profits among their respective business operators.
