In the present healthcare system, the role that information technology (IT) plays entails assisting all individuals in making ideal decisions irrespective of the duties they undertake in the system. Healthcare informatics entails simplifying information systems that facilitate in clarifying sophisticated relationships, disclose relationships between disparate or similar sources, and connect the information to the flow of work. Deploying solutions might present challenges since the existing tools were developed with the goal of automating and administrating processes as opposed to offering information that can assist efficient functioning. The value attributed to information deteriorates in an exponential manner over time. In the absence of effective IT systems, information is usually transferred at a significantly low pace via publication processes or administrative channels. Information technology aims at ensuring information is moved at a rapid pace to ensure that it is deployed to the process of making decisions at the ideal time (Stead, 2018) . Thus, the paper discusses the challenges healthcare providers and administrators encounter in remaining up-to-date and obtaining new knowledge, how Clinical Decision Support Systems assist clinicians and physicians bridge the gap and obtain new knowledge to improve patient care, and the role that heath informaticists play in knowledge translation and procurement of knowledge.

Challenges of Healthcare Providers and Administrators

Healthcare providers and administrators encounter challenges in remaining up-to-date and obtaining new knowledge. The major challenge revolves around creating an architecture that has the capacity of allowing physicians and administrators to differentiate tools from content. For a long time, information systems have played the role of holding information concerning the practices that should be exercised in a healthcare setting. Since, it is not possible to separate the content from the tools utilized in separating processes, challenges emerge in ensuring that the information becomes more scalable hence not useful in allowing physicians and administrators to remain up-to-date or acquire new knowledge (Bloomrosen & Detmer, 2010) .

The design of processes also presents challenges in facilitating the realization of up-to-date and new information among physicians and administrators. For instance, the distinct parts of a distributed system process lacks new approaches of fostering constant communication. As such, education systems have failed to change with respect to enforcing constant communication that can allow physicians and administrators to move forward. In this case, they are incapable of building competencies depending on outcome records or learning records over time, hence leading organizations to continue relying on conventional approaches. To allow physicians and administrators acquire updated and new information, it would be essential to change the process designs in such a manner that they foster constant communication among the distinct distributed processes in information systems (Bloomrosen & Detmer, 2010) .

The lack of a standard structure in information systems presents physicians and administrators with challenges of acquiring updated or new knowledge. As such, they are incapable of certifying products that can comply with certain required standards. Furthermore, these individuals lack data-driven skills to allow them undertake their operations efficiently in this kind of an environment. As such, variability prevails in terms of the knowledge they possess while at the same time continuing to offer traditional forms of care, which do not match the requirements of the present healthcare needs (Bloomrosen & Detmer, 2010) . In this perspective, therefore, addressing the challenges would provide physicians with an avenue for gaining updated and new knowledge to allow them engage in processes that can boost the overall effectiveness of the services their organizations deliver to patients.

CDSSs Assist Clinicians and Physicians to Bridge Knowledge Gap

The Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSSs) can assist clinicians and physicians in bridging the knowledge gap and obtain new knowledge of improving patient care. To begin with, they offer the clinicians and physicians consistent and reliable information. Gathering relevant knowledge based on evidence is usually a challenging task, particularly during critical times. Searching for information from the Internet can offer numerous results while their reliability and relevance differ. The clinicians and physicians cannot get access to the answers they require. However, with CDSSs, they serve as trusted sources that allow the clinicians and physicians to access reliable, updated, and new information, which they can utilize in decision making (Hitchcock, 2011) .

The CDSSs also play the role of allowing clinicians and physicians in minimizing incidences of medication errors through the updated and new information they acquire. For instance, challenges prevail when it comes to determining the appropriate medication does, particularly in the case of children and infants during emergency cases. Calculations that entail sophisticated formulas pose challenges in remembering, while it is also possible to experience mathematical errors. When it comes to CDSSs, nevertheless, they can offer clinicians and physicians a quick and easy way of understanding drug dosage requirements for specific patients (Hitchcock, 2011) . With this updated and new knowledge, it become possible to eradicate the knowledge gap when it comes to dosage calculations and reduce medication errors significantly.

The CDSSs allow clinicians and physicals to gain access to the information they need in a single place. For example, by the time of publication, reference textbooks are usually outdated while they take a considerable amount of space while at the same time presenting challenges in finding them when required. By contrast, CDSSs are validated and updated on a regular basis. Here, the capacity for accessing most recent medical resources among clinicians and physicians in a single location eradicates the requirement for investing in additional resources or multiple logins. The clinicians and physicians can use the information acquired to acquire the knowledge they need and improve the care they offer to patients. Overall, therefore, whereas CDSSs should not replace the experience, knowledge, judgment, or intuition of the clinicians and physicians, they can play a critical role in complementing their skills while at the same time improving the kind of care they deliver to patients (Hitchcock, 2011) . Hence, they are essential in bridging the knowledge gap and fostering acquisition of knowledge to enhance patient care.

Role of Health Informaticists in Knowledge Translation and Procurement of New Knowledge

Health informaticists play a major role in knowledge translation and procurement of new knowledge. Regarding knowledge translation, the health informaticists are able to create new evidence and knowledge, which has the capacity of supporting delivery of care. They also ensure to continue offering more information to healthcare systems. Whereas this information is not possible to utilize effectively in its raw state, health informaticists usually embark on translating knowledge, data, and evidence gathered to ensure that it can be utilized in clinical settings efficiently. They ensure to avail the data in form understandable by computers to facilitate in the generation of systems that are capable of retrieving, analyzing, as well as availing evidence to users (Bloomrosen & Detmer, 2010) . This way, the information availed is possible to understand in a clinical environment.

Furthermore, health informaticists facilitate in the procurement of new knowledge. Here, they embark on deploying effective techniques, strategies, and incentives of making sure new information is availed in clinical environments effectively. They embark on tremendous research to boost organizational capacity in advancing procurement of information. They focus on devising the ideal interventions of making sure that new knowledge concerning health is delivered to communities and clinical settings efficiently (Bloomrosen & Detmer, 2010) . Overall, therefore, it is apparent that health informaticists play a vital role in fostering translation and procurement of new knowledge.
