The Affordable Care Act which is also referred to as PPACA or the Obama care was enacted in 2010 by the Democratic administration led by President Obama. The law aimed at improving the healthcare systems in the United States by healthcare expanding healthcare insurance to most citizens and also protecting the individual insurance holders at that time (Galan, 2018) . The main goals of the act were; 1) making affordable insurance coverage available to more Americans by providing consumers with premium subsidies, 2) extending the Medicaid program to comprise of all Americans with income that is 138 percent below the federal level of poverty and, 3) supporting innovative and creative health care methods of delivery developed to reduce the costs of the overall healthcare. 

The essential components of the law to the public, as well as community health including the following, the primary objective of the act, was making quality healthcare to be affordable and accessible to citizens including seniors, taxpayers, families, and enterprises. The act also offers uninsured individuals in America the entitlement to have more affordable healthcare insurance. It will also assist the small enterprises to obtain insurance coverage for their employees (Gruber, 2011) . The act also provided new plans for healthcare coverage for chronic conditions such as diabetes and cancer, for pregnancy as well as for children under parental policies.

Nurses are the leading players in the implementation of the act because they are positioned explicitly at the center of providing patients with care and within the supplier as well as payer agencies in healthcare systems. According to (Luther, 2014) , the nurses have the responsibility and the expertise to implement the act to be successful. Nurses have a remarkable history of doing well in the team-based healthcare process. They are pivotal to quality healthcare as well as the satisfaction of patients, and efficient use of the limited resources to offer patient- and value-oriented healthcare.
