The Healthy People 2020 website has numerous initiatives captured that I would consider giving my attention. The item that caught most of my attention and one that I would consider to invest is the issue of disparities in accessing health care services by people with disabilities (Healthy People 2020, 2019). Millions of people are facing the physical and mental disabilities in the United States and need to be assisted in order to meet the objectives of the Healthy People 2020 (Healthy People 2020, 2019). This is a major issue considering the fact that there is a huge disparity in healthcare access by the people facing disability (Engineering National Academies of Sciences, 2017). I believe that, through taking on initiatives that would reduce the disparities in healthcare access among the disabled persons; I would greatly influence the field of health administration.
The shift from individual to population health of the autistic children would go a long way in leading to better management of the situations these children face. The initiatives that I would be interested in pursuing are those related to handling the people, especially the children with autism. As indicated in the Healthy People 2020 website, 12%, or 36 million people not living in nursing homes or other residential care facilities were people suffering with diverse disabilities, mental or otherwise (Healthy People 2020, 2019). Out of this number are the children that battle autism who would need to special care to cope with this mental health situation. I have passion on working on initiatives driven towards helping autistic children experience the healthcare services they need in order to manage the situation they are facing effectively. Working on initiatives that would promote easy access to healthcare services among autistic patients is of great priority.

I would engage in creating good health promotional materials for autistic children and health needs they experience. The material will be specifically a newspaper page in the dailies that would cover the issue of disparities in access to healthcare among poor families with autistic children. The appropriate medium for my PSA would be a press release through a newspaper page in the dailies. This would involve paying for a full-page space in the dailies where I would feature the article addressing disparities in healthcare access among children going through autism. I would create the newspaper page that would talk about the issue of autism among the children and the need to sponsor/fund programs aimed at helping poor families with autistic children to have access to
My PSA, which is a newspaper page, would include a number of content materials aimed at motivating the public to find a worthy cause to support/fund programs aimed at helping families take care of autistic children (Engineering National Academies of Sciences, 2017). The newspaper page would have three major sub-headings and content areas. The first one would be a sub-heading describing autism condition. It would allow the readers who by any means have not been exposed to the term to understand the subject under scrutiny. The second sub-heading would cover issues to do with disparities in healthcare access among poor families with autistic children. I would share on the way some families cannot afford medications their autistic children need. Lastly, I would write on information on how the public can plug-in to ensure that all autistic children have access to the needed medication.
