Hektor vs. Achilles

Hektor is regarded more appealing as a character than Achilles for numerous reasons. Hektor as a character showed numerous pleasing traits as compared to Achilles. For instance, he was a perfect man, courageous, fight expert, sincere, a reliable family man, a loving father, a patriot, wise, a good son and did anything to prevent his soldiers from being killed or wounded. Additionally, Hektor showed extraordinary capability in the battle by killing many opponent soldiers within a very short time. Unlike, Achilles, Hektor did what he did not please himself but for his nation. Achilles to a considerable extent is not pleasing since he was full of pride and engaged in the battle for personal glory. He was not patriotic to his nation did not have adequate decency and honor in himself. This is well presented by his acts after killing Hektor. A decent man or soldier would not have handled a fellow dead man, a soldier, and a warrior the way he did. Achilles also showed strange traits too. For instance, he admired and fell in love with a dead woman, an Amazon he had murdered. Based on the personal trait of the two character, I would prefer Hektor. He shows some humane traits that are pleasing and acceptable in the society, unlike Achilles who goes to the extent of falling in love with a dead woman.

The two were renowned heroes and warriors of their times by being in the forefront of their armies, Achilles (Achaians) and Hektor (Trojans). However, Hektor was more loving as compared to Achilles. For instance, Hektor loved his family and understood that self-assurance, and communication is key to creating an effective relationship with a family. He would even forego war is he hears his child cry or his loved ones suffer due to war. On the other hand, Achilles is proud and believes that military success and glory is key in life than even his family or loved ones.
