Although Sandra is in good health, she has concerns about her weight she might be heading to being overweight but she is trying to keep health. However her husband’s health is a bit stressing to Sandra he may not be in the best condition health wise which may be causing a strain to Sandra. Although their vows are still strong Sandra’s marriage may be headed to the rocks and the fact that she might be getting divorced is also causing Sandra a lot of stress.
Erikson was an ego psychologist. He talked about the role of culture and society and the conflicts that can occur within the ego itself. According to Erikson, the ego arises as it successfully resolves conflicts that are distinctly social in nature. These involve having trust in others, developing an identity in society, and helping future generations prepare for the future (McLeod, 2016).

When we age, we decline in the rates of our productivity, and will strive to ensure that we have a good retired life. It is at these times that we are able to reflect on what we have been able to achieved and how these have affected our lives. As we grow older we tend to decrease our productivity, and try out life as a retired person. It is during this time that we think about our achievements and are able to build integrity if we see ourselves as leading a successful life. Erik Erikson said that if we see our lives as unproductive, feel a sense of guilt about our past, or have feelings that we did might not have not achieved our life goals, we become dissatisfied or unhappy with life and develop despair, often leading to depression (McLeod, 2016). According to this definition by Erik Erikson we can say that Sandra is in despair because she does not see her life as successful because her husband’s health is deteriorating which causes her stress and also the fact that she might be getting a divorce is also making her stressed which may lead to feelings of failure.
According to the ecomap chart the factors causing Sandra the most stress are her husband’s health and her divorce. Again the issue of her weight might be causing Sandra a little bit if stress.
Highly sensitive people are more often than not viewed as weak or broken. But to feel intensely or overwhelmingly is not a symptom of weakness; it is a sign of a truly alive, healthy and compassionate human being. In Sandra’s case she could be encouraged by looking for the hidden optimism in every situation and soaking it up, she could also whenever possible spend time with other sensitive people who are already successful, or at least open to those possibilities since those people understand not only how to control and take care of their sensitivity, but also how to wield its superpowers, also she could be encouraged to find new spins on old flaws since her gifts of sensitivity may have to do with deep reflection and an instinct to see all angles and results of things. But by being so deeply tuned in to details she is easily carried away and exhausted by stimulation that isn’t counteractive (Benham and Grant (2006). And when she doesn’t understand why she feels and behaves in the ways she does, it’s easy to frame these as flaws. She should therefore rethink old perceptions in light of her deeper understandings of sensitivity.
I think contacting Sandra’s adult children would help her cope with trauma because they will be a support system to her. With them to talk to she will not feel abandoned and she will have someone to talk to. Also they will be there to offer an ear and look at the situation from a neutral point and they will be able to help her come in to a decision which is more rational.
Sandra’s children will help her look back at the old times and may also help her remember the good old times when sickness and stress were not there. They will help her have the desire to work things out and make them go back to normal as they used to be before.
An agency that can help Sandra and her family is the Department of Health and Human Services. They will help Sandra with tips and means of how to lead and maintain a healthy life style and how to keep healthy and avoid obesity. Also they may offer to help Sandra in treating and managing her husband’s health complications which may in turn help him be in good health and help Sandra overcome the stress due to her husband’s health. Easing this stress may also make things easier for Sandra in dealing with the divorce just in case the divorce issue is being brought about by the fact that he husband is unwell
