What are the concerns of the “New Historians?”
The New Historians is a group of Israeli historians whose primary concern is the challenge the traditional versions of the Israeli history. Another key concern for the New Historians was advancing the peace process. As such, they sought to challenge the role played by Israel in the 1948 Palestinian exodus and Arab willingness to talk about peace. Another important and certainly the most common concern of the new Historians is regarding the interpretations of the English history. They believe that we should interpret English history in strict accordance with the Marxist dogma.
Who are their subjects and what is the goal of their craft?
Subjects of the new Historians include the downtrodden and illiterate. New Historians believe that the downtrodden and illiterate lack a proper understanding of history. Therefore, they must be given a valuable corrective history. The prime goal was to impact different levels of education. First, they used craft to influence how subjects are taught in Israeli schools. They rewrote textbooks, incorporating some of the findings of their work. This helped expose students to various, conflicting interpretations of the emergence of Israel.

How is the politics treated differently than it’s nineteenth-century ancestors?
For sure, intense violence had not been experienced in the political landscape during the era of ancestors. However, the Wide Awakes gives a clear indication of the jarringly different world of politics during the time of our ancestors and in the 19th century. One may not believe that in the 1800s, families ate and slept politics, but, it is true that these people paid far much attention to campaigns, elections, political speeches and rallies than we know. Contrary to the deferential politicking of the 1700s, where the public trusted enlightened elites to make the most responsible decisions for them, the 1800s era was a time of mass involvement in politics. All people cared greatly because they all had a stake. They cared to the extent that numerous political organizations run like the military.
