Question 1

Homophobia is a more respectable form of bigotry since the opinions made are not directed to cause harm to a specific person. On the other hand prejudice against an oppressed person is not acceptable since the opinion made is meant to target an individual from a specific group of people. The federal government's role in achieving equality for gay and lesbian is undermined. There is no law of protecting the homosexual against all discriminations. However, the government role in achieving equality for other minority groups is being exercised. Discrimination based on race is punishable. Non-discrimination is a human right that protects people of all races (Campbell, 2017).

Question 2

Women are highly oppressed as compared to men. The identity of a Woman has culturally been defined. Therefore, most work places have specific occupation reserved for women. In the active market, 98% of women are victims of sexual harassment ( Schaefer, 2015). Foreigners coming into the country to make money. Labor offered by the minority groups is affordable (Sang-Hun, 2009) . However, the gap between the white men and women is constant because of the lack of protection of women as caregivers and sexism(Schaefer, 2015).

Question 3

Persons with disabilities are uniquely identified. APA style recommends that the pronouns persons appear first before disability. Therefore disability does not modify 'person.' Elderly people who are 40years and older are protected by; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADE) ( Mckay, 2018). Ageism and discrimination against people with disabilities is taken seriously. This is because there is an act that protects them against all discrimination by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (Kornblau, 2015).

Question 4

The United States is behind as compared to other countries in regards to women's legislature. There is no law that bars a woman from campaigning. However, the reason why women are less in the national legislature in the United States as compared to other countries is that of the existing challenges. For instance, sex preferences. Most party leaders prefer men. It is argued that women are caregivers and to balance all their roles is a challenge. Also, most of them are finically challenged and cannot afford the campaigning cost. It is true that government indifference regarding the plight of poor women is caused by the continuing dominance of men in the political system. This is because the high number of men in leadership positions shows that women empowerment has been undermined. Therefore the decision made is not gender balanced (Ahmed, 2014).

Question 5

The provision of Title IX in 1972 set guidelines on Education. In 1974 & 1975 it was not only an educational unit but also had rules that covered the health and welfare sectors ( Schaefer, 2015) . Title IX is considered one of the most controversial measures taken by the federal government in addressing inequality because it does not protect female college students from all kinds of discrimination. Sexual harassment is not punishable unless other sexual discrimination acts are committed. (The History, Uses, and Abuses of Title IX, 2016)

Question 6

Women’s roles have been culturally defined. Women are identified by society as mothers and wives. In workplaces, they are employed to work in areas that can't guarantee a high pay. According to the mommy track, women are seen as home keepers(Schaefer, 2015) . It shows that men's attention is on work and not family. Lead roles are mostly occupied by men. My leadership in the institution was assumed to be as a result of sexual favor.

Question 7

Both Jim Crow laws of the southern United States and South Africa’s Apartheid dealt with racial segregation. For instance, both were against the marriage of the whites with other races. In contrast, Jim Crow laws of the Southern United States was a local system that used both a legal and independent system whereas South Africa's Apartheid was a governmental system that was legal ( Steptoe, 2016; Dubow, 2014). Both Brazil and the United States history discriminated the minority group. They exercised high level of racism.

In contrast, in the history of Brazil slaves were not sectioned as was the case with the United States slave. In the United States, the slaves were divided according to where they labored. Domestic laborers stayed with their master while those who worked in big firms were not allowed to.
