Artificial Intelligence (AI) is undoubtedly one of the elements that is likely to change the functions and tasks of computerized information systems. Through this mechanism, highly intelligent machines which can work better than humans are created. Learning, reasoning and self-correction are part of the elements which are input into the machines in order for them to perform similar functions to those that an ordinary person can do. AI is likely to be expensive, however, the benefits it creates are outstanding.
One of the ways that AI might change the functions of computerized systems in the next ten years is through medical imaging. This is a system that seeks to examine individuals’ medical images in order to initiate diagnostics ( He et al., 2019 ). This will necessitate the development of algorithms and learning systems for machines to utilize. One of the benefits of this, is that it will manage to increase speed and accuracy for performing different tasks. These AI systems also possess a wealth of information regarding scans that have been collected and stored in various locations across the country. As a result, it will be easy for medical experts to study and identify a large number of medical conditions, and also come up with treatment incentives. The likely disadvantage of this is that it is bound to be a costly experience for the patients. Moreover, the medical practitioners would be required to have relevant knowledge in utilizing medical imaging and also undertaking research using the scans obtained.

Mental and physical health screening via chatbots or computer interfaces is another likely advancement of AI in the medical sector. Screening will involve the interaction between a doctor and the patient whereby the patient is expected to answer a number of questions in order for the doctor to come up with a diagnosis on their conditions ( Lu & Burton, 2017 ). More significantly, the patient can do this at the comfort of their own home without having to appear physically at the health facility. The benefit emanating from this is convenience since there is no need for someone to visit the hospital yet they can still manage to get the same experience they would have if they had got to the health center. Also, it is efficient and saves a lot of time since one can multitask or perform other duties without having to go to hospital. The disadvantage of this is that it is possible for the client to offer inaccurate information to the doctor thus resulting in misdiagnosis. Also, one can note that the physician would only be required to have substantial knowledge and skills on utilizing the gadgets used as interfaces for the interactions.
In summary, it is apparent that AI is capable of transforming the health sector. Some of the advancement expected to occur such as medical imaging are likely to make diagnosis easier and more efficient. Also, screening is also capable of initiating a faster diagnostic process and saving a lot of time for the patient, thus enabling them to attend to other duties and responsibilities. One would, however, wonder if the society is ready to embrace these impending changes or not.
