How the study will be conducted
The study will evaluate the extent to which exposure to first-person shooter games contribute to juvenile delinquency
The respondents in the study will be 30 juveniles between the ages of 13 to 18 years who already have an advanced mastery of first person shooter games and 30 others who do not play first person shooter games.
In will involve interviews with the adolescents and teenagers regarding their perception of how first person shooter games influence their behaviour.
The study will involve a review of literature on the effects of video games on juvenile delinquency.
It will involve a trend analysis of reports of behavvior of 30 juveniles who play first person shooter games compared to the other 30 who do not play first person shooter games.
A stratified sampling method will be used in the study. First the population will be separated into two groups of juveniles who play first person shooter games and their counterparts who do not play first person shooter games. Second, for every group, a simple random sample of 30 will be selected.
Survey questionnaires will be used in the study to determine the respondent’s perception of the effects of first person shooter games on their behaviour and conduct.
The ethical issue in the study is to avoid coercing respondents to admit behaviours. Besides, response should be voluntary.
