Fusion centers are information hubs possessed and operated by the state to facilitate the receipt, analysis, and sharing of vital information concerning homeland security. The main role of the fusion centers is to harness the process of data sharing from the state and other local partners to facilitate operational and tactical intelligence (Guidetti, 2010). Given the function of the fusion centers, there are major challenges that hinder effectiveness in the information sharing process. Some of the challenges experienced in the fusion centers include military participation, data mining obstacles, and top-level secrecy. However, in the United States, the fusion centers have succeeded in harnessing crucial information to provide analytic services that support the intelligence policing model. The achievement of the fusion centers is attributed to the implementation of strategic approaches that supports effective and efficient information sharing. The centers have played a vital role in providing intelligence to enhance homeland security and enable the government to foresee security concerns and develop tactical measures.

In the United States, different security departments have capitalized on the use of fusion centers in the process of enhancing security measures in their territory. Considering the success of the fusion centers to harness information for tactical intelligence, the US Navy continues to implement the intelligence provided by the fusion centers to help in engaging in special projects (Office of the Director of National Intelligence, 2014). In Las Vegas, the fusion centers have succeeded in providing a high level of analytic services to help in supporting the intelligence policies in the region. The fusion centers in this region have helped in leveraging the casino security measures through intelligence that depicts the security threats facing the region. The fusion centers have succeeded in other regions within the United States, which is an aspect that is demonstrated by the enhanced security measures. The ability to obtain intelligence is a crucial factor that helps to develop tactical measures to deal with a wide-ranging of security concerns.
