The process of birth is a miraculous and intricate process that involves the single cell develops into a multicellular being. The process is continuous when begins with the fertilization of an ovum by a sperm. It thus forms a zygote differentiating into organ systems. Thereafter, it develops to the early functional stage. The prenatal stage occurs before birth and takes a total of 280 days. The stage of prenatal involves three steps; pre-embryonic which takes 0-2 weeks, the stage of embryonic taking a time period of 3-8 weeks (also called organogenesis), and the fetal stage which takes a period of 9 weeks to the time of birth (Martin, 1991). The stage above involves the transformation of eggs and sperms to the formation of a child in the womb.

The scientific developmental stage is similar to that of the Christian worldview. The Christian viewpoint is demonstrated in the book of Psalms 139:13-15. In this verse, the author shows that God is the one who instituted the process of human development ( VanGemeren, 2017)

The main difference between the scientific and Christian viewpoints is that the Christian viewpoint provides a solution to the person who instigated the process of human development. The scientific viewpoint of the human developmental stage provides the processes of development but does not provide the answer to how the processes sustain itself and who started the accurate and programmed processes. However, the two viewpoints complement themselves well. Psalms 139:13-15, “the psalmist says that God created the inmost being and knit him together in his mother’s womb”. The scientific viewpoint talks about the early human development involving the slow process in the womb. That is similar to Psalm’s allusion of ‘knitting together in the mother’s womb.’
