I think ethical behavior impacts my business positively and can help my business to gain customer loyalty, earn their trust, avoid any legal actions against my business and help my business to attract talented and skilled employees. Customers who have been treated ethically will give the business an opportunity to own them and continue enjoying the organization’s products and services which ultimately convert into high sales and high profitability. However, customers who are overcharged or mishandled by the organization’s employees or management will turn their back to the organization and run away. Therefore, I believe ethics plays an important role in business, and all the organization’s employees have the ethical duty to remain honest and trustworthy to the business and its customers. I believe failure to inculcate good values and morals by the business management will obviously result in a fall in the business’ sales and later lead to the termination of the business.
I believe leaders and their leadership styles are at the center of an organization’s ethics because effective leaders will maintain trust and integrity within an organization. Ethical leaders will communicate clearly to their subordinates, customers and business stakeholders, thus fostering good relationships with everyone including employees, suppliers, customers, sponsors, community, etc. Moreover, I think that ethical leaders act to role model to the rest of organization stakeholders, and this enables them to acquire legitimacy and set ethical standards and code of ethics for their juniors to strictly follow. However, when a leader him/herself is dishonest and not trustworthy then other employees will follow suit, thus scaring customers and suppliers away. The overall effect of unethical business is that employees will start striking or leaving the organization for the ones that they feel can help them grow. In this regard, leaders must thrive to maintain ethical standards within their organizations for the business to be successful.

I believe all organizations that conduct ethical business will achieve positive culture. An organization culture means shared values, responsibilities, love, beliefs, norms, etc. All these are features of a positive culture, and they guide how everyone conducts him/herself within an organization. In this regard, a company that has positive culture will help its employees, customers, and suppliers to remain loyal and caring to their organization. Another importance of ethical culture in an organization is that it will ensure that everyone within the organization remains focus and productive, and the ultimate outcome will be high sales and high profitability. However, unethical actions within an organization include activities that are against the organization’s norms, values, beliefs, codes of conduct and culture. Therefore, any organization that desires success must avoid unethical behaviors and instead ensure that ethics becomes center to all departments for success.
