In examining how law enforcement and community relations can be improved, the data from the self-administered surveys and focus groups would mainly be qualitative in nature. Qualitative data is one that offers an understanding and insight on a given topic using people views, opinions, experiences, and suggestions (Salvador, 2016). It is different from quantitative data which seeks to analyze a given problem using statistical, mathematical and computational data (Salvador, 2016). To make the study more result-focused, I would tabulate the data collected in terms of themes or the main idea that arises. Here, I would use memos to make short notes on the main points from the surveys and focus group report. The process will also be key in coding the data collected which in the end would simplify the data analysis process. Recognizing the differences in the data collected in the surveys and focus groups, especially on people views, I intend to use the framework analysis to analyze my data. The framework analysis is a good tool for comparing and contrasting data collected and comparing the same with previous cases. The framework analysis has five main steps of data analysis that include; the familiarizations, thematic framework identification, indexing, charting and mapping and interpretation (Nowell, 2017). It is also a good analysis tool since it helps the author remain focused on the research question, whereby it is possible to start analyzing the data right from the data collection point. A researcher is therefore in a position to sift the data collected before tabulating it in form of charts to enable easier interpretation.

Lastly, after charting the data is mapped and interpreted by analyzing the key themes and characteristics from the study. Here, I would critically analyze the data and determine the best strategies suggested by our focus group and interviewees on improving law enforcement and community relations. The strategies will be arranged systematically as per their order of popularity and effectiveness in resolving the problem. However, if the quantitative analysis would have been used a number of significant points would have been ignored since they are not quantified. Qualitative analysis on the hand does not overlook new ideas and developments, which are critical in determining the best solution to the problem.
