Artists around the world use different forms of art to express their rebellion from various traditional practices. In spite of the differences, punk rock comes out as one of the most symbolic artistic movements that rebel against either musical or social norms. Punk rock is not only chaotic, but it opposes the musical provisions represented by art rock. There is a possibility of arguing that punk rockers are inexperienced musically. In this case, punk primarily encourages the young people to start a band regardless of whether they have the skills of playing particular instruments or otherwise. Most of the members of a specific group might have begun playing their instruments for a few sessions before they start making music since they display minimal skills when doing so.

Punk also goes against cultural elements that define the social imprisonment of a particular group of people, consequently speaking out against the possibly existing oppression. Fashion trends during the mid-to the late 1970s was primarily characterized by torn jeans, shirts, suits, and gowns. However, punks don ragged clothing, numerous body piercings, and tattoos. Some people could consider their fashion sense as aesthetically unpleasant based on the notion that their visual appearance is presumably shocking. Many parents are not likely to approve of the behavior and the visual appearance of punk rockers, consequently considering them to be of objectionable influence to their children. Punk rockers are associated with drug habits, latent violence, as well as explicit music. Considering all the musical and cultural factors identified, there is a possibility of characterizing this subculture as contradictory to the society’s norms. For this reason, the most plausible conclusion is that rebellion plays a role in punk both musically and culturally.
