Inequality within social-economic classes is real and affects every individual at all stages of life. Among the many aspects used to determine a person’s social class is education, i.e., the level and type of education along with the learning institution attended. To get from one status to the next, we all try to get the best education to be in a better position to “make it in life.” More often than not, this social status mentality gives people from economically challenged communities the more laborious task in life. Will the poor make it in life? Coming from the poor circles in the community, one has to sacrifice more and strive harder to reach a level playing ground with the rest of humanity. Poverty is a significant motivation for the lesser in the society to push themselves to live better lives tomorrow.

The dream of a better tomorrow encourages most individuals to struggle to attain college educational qualifications at the very least, against all the odds. Community colleges get a higher number of financially challenged students when compared to other colleges since they are more affordable. Findings from research by the University of Wisconsin indicate that a higher number of college students are homeless and hungry. Results of this study, show that at least one-third of students in community colleges go without food while 14 percent are homeless. Generally, the struggle is the same for almost all college students, with the less expensive colleges having, the higher percentage of affected individuals. As years go by, the population grows, and these percentages are only bound to go higher if we do not find a solution. Consequently, it is a good opinion that governments at the state and federal level should partner and come up with programs that ensure every college students has basic needs.
