When reading Swift’s A Modest proposal that is not left out as it also has a surprise ending. The entirety of this article talks how best the poor can be traded for human flesh and relive any country the burden of taking care of them such as avoiding paying rent for them, and riding beggars off our streets (Swift, 1729) . However, after the second last paragraph the author provides a surprise ending. The author changes his view abruptly and says that he is promoting trade of his country, has offers ideas about providing for the infants, and wants to relive the poor and give some form of pressure to the rich

When discussing, the author places the society’s cultural practices within an historic context. By doing so, the author is able to illustrate out how various viewpoints to issues in the society have changed. As mentioned above, things that were being viewed to be moral during those times are now being viewed differently. The intellectual capacity of the ancient human beings has changed since then. The religious practices though have remained with the same principles the viewpoints towards that are not similar to those days. The political systems then were dictatorial were whatever the political system proposed to be right was not put under any examination.

Turning on t the social economic forces they may be not be appropriate if not judged ethical. The author shows how viable a trade in human fresh can be makes economic sense. For a merchant that will be a great opportunity however when judged morally it is not even acceptable. On that part of the historical development the world has real moved from some unethical trade practices to a more open society. The obedience the rulers’ authority was unquestionable and women were previously seen as breeders of more human beings. Nevertheless, that is not the case currently. In brief the reading provides a paradoxical view on how the poor were perceived by the rich. (Swift, 1729) It is an heart touching reading that is only reinforced by the authors surprise ending where he states his moral and ethical views on the show subject he was talking about.
