Coronavirus or Covid-19 is an infectious respiratory ailment that was identified in November 2019 in China. Since the reporting of the first case, the disease has spread rapidly across the world and greatly affecting different spheres of life. The sporting community is one of the major spheres that have felt the impact of this disease. To prevent further spread of Covid-19 and mitigate its negative effects, national and international bodies have put in place different measures touching on several factors both on a communal and personal level. The first step they have taken is to cancel or postpone major sporting events to avoid further infection to players and fans (Gilat & Cole, 2020) . As those activities attract a large number of people as fans, players, and the technical team, they can contribute greatly to the mass spread of Covid-19.

Secondly, teams and organizations have encouraged athletes to carry out home training to avoid getting infected or infecting other people. This also helps them to keep fit mentally and physically as they await the resumption of sporting activities. Sportspeople are taking this initiative by engaging in running on short tracks near their homes or indoor activities like press-ups. The third measure the sports community has employed is increasing the level of hygiene. Sportspeople are encouraged to maintain cleanliness at all times to reduce the spread of Covid-19. This involves regular washing of hands, disinfecting items with high contact with humans, and avoiding touching of the facial parts (Toresdahl & Asif, 2020) . Members are also encouraged to use handkerchiefs or disposable tissue while sneezing and using elbows when coughing. Lastly, various athletes have accepted to take pay cuts to support various initiatives meant to curb the Covid-19 effects. They include financing medical projects, supporting the vulnerable with food, and other essentials. All these measures have contributed greatly to curbing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
