Etiquette plays a significant role during a job interview because it provides interviewers with an idea of the candidate’s personality (Indeed Career Guide, 2020). Proper etiquette for a job interview include showing up to interviews on time and in case a candidate is running late or need to reschedule, it is important to inform the employer. In addition, a candidate should treat every individual with respect to ensure they are perceived as respectful and friendly. Dressing appropriately for the interview involves wearing a business attire so as to level up to the employees dressing standard. Therefore, a candidate should ensure they dress for success. Furthermore, a candidate should be a good listener, which may involve maintaining eye contact with the interviewer during the interview. This will show that the candidate is engaged and offer the employer with the idea that you will be the best person for the position. Moreover, after the interview, the candidate should ensure they send a thank you note to the interviewers ( Tews, Stafford & Michel, 2018).

What's “good behavior” in a behavioral job interview?

The aim of conducting behavioral job interview is to determine whether the candidate has corresponding values and approach to challenges within the organization. The “good behavior” in a behavioral job interview would include having knowledge of the organization. Having background information regarding the company will demonstrate that the candidate is ready to become part of the team. In addition, “good behavior” may include being honest by answering each question truthfully while maintaining professionalism (Trippett, 2014). Moreover, being specific is another example of “good behavior”. If the interviewer asks about the details of an event that a candidate experienced, they should be able to present key information and share what they have learned from it. Furthermore, “good behavior” involves not limiting your work experiences by using different life practices such as part-time jobs, school, or examples daily living, which have contribute to them being stronger individuals (Kruse, 2014).
