Owing to the fact that veterans in the army subject themselves to a verse array of risks, their affairs need to be handled with at most concern. As such, services of certified rehabilitation counsellors who work in rehabilitation settings for the department of veteran affairs conduct important work. In this regards, this paper will provide a reflection based on an interview that was carried out on one certified rehabilitation counsellor. Therefore, this will help to provide an understanding of the scope of the job as well as understanding the challenges they face as they provide the services and some measures of redress. 

To begin with, questions related to educational background and working experience developed in the interview were crucial towards understanding the requirements needed for one to attain this position. In addition to this, by understanding the educational background as well as the working experience of the counsellor, one is able to develop trust in the services they give. Evidently, the services are based on some set skills and know-how which the counsellor attained through the training and years of practice. As a result, this also provides a guarantee that the service members who have undergone through counselling session conducted by this counsellor have adequate knowledge of their benefits. In my opinion, therefore, understanding the educational background and working experience of the counsellor, helps to accord them respect (Bellini & Rumrill, 2009) .

Subsequently, like other professions, the counsellor has major tasks and obligation that they have to fulfil. Hence it is vital to understand what some of the major tasks entail in order to understand how operations in the line of work are undertaken. Consequently, this entails a description of what types of cases the counsellor handles and how much work is done with a specified period (VRE Director, 2016) . Perceptively, this is important in getting the insight on the challenges the counsellor face as the endeavour to give quality services. 

Moreover, the interview was efficient in considering the requirements and issues faced by the counsellor and also exploring the strategies employed to counter them. By engaging the views of the counsellor in relation to effective caseload management, it provided for some of the gaps and opportunities in the field and how they can be redressed. Notably, this was established in the question which the counsellor was required to give some advice to new counsellors in the agency. Additionally, understanding how often the counsellor was involved in job placement activities, showed the need and appreciation of the profession in army services. Furthermore, it encouraged people who have doubts in the profession to gain confidence and pursue it (VRE Director, 2016) . 

How the information may be useful to me in my future work 

In my perspective, this information is critical in developing strategies necessary in providing quality services to the client as well as solving my work challenges (Bellini & Rumrill, 2009) . First, establishing my strengths in relation to how much work I can handle and at what period of time helps to lay a foundation towards exploiting my full potential. Secondly, identifying major challenges and barriers towards delivering quality services will also be useful in designing of measures to overcome them. Consequently, with the realization of what the problem is, I will be able to develop measures which solve these issues hence ensuring I give quality services. 

Conclusion 

In conclusion, rehabilitation counselling is a profession which is crucial in dealing with the veteran army who are discontinued due to medical reasons in the army. As such, it is crucial to understand the work of the counsellor who helps them in the process. As projected in the interview, the counsellors have workloads which they have to do and challenges which they have to overcome to be efficient and effective. Hence, the interview helps in understanding the scope of the profession and gives direction to new counsellors and those interested in the profession.
