It refers to the ability of an individual’s knowledge towards their emotions, how they can handle and positively control them, and also be able to convey to other people (Nabih et al., 2016). An emotionally intelligent person makes a good leader; they are in charge of their emotions, and those of other people around them.

What I learned About My Emotional Intelligence

I learned that my emotional intelligence is not always stable. There are times when I'm at my best, but at times I am uncontrollable. I get angry too quickly, and I still want to win all the arguments. If I need to have a calm and peaceful life, I got to learn how to accommodate those around me. To be able to do that, I need to be able to control my emotions first, for me to tackle other people's after that. For my friends to understand me, I need to understand them as well, and the decision begins with me. It might not be one-day affair; but I should at least start by having a positive attitude, one step at a time. I will get there (Blackwood & Blackwood, 2019).

What I Think I Need to Change

I need to change on relationship management. No matter how bad a situation is, it can always change. That should be a motivation to me so that I can view items from a positive angle and allow other people to express their opinions freely. Instead of overreacting every time I am involved in some conflict, I should change that behavior and try to respond calmly. That way, I can be able to solve issues amicably.

How I Plan to Make the Changes

I plan to practice self-and-social-awareness. Self-awareness is the center of my emotional intelligence. It will build the relationship between me and those I associate with. For me to understand the people around me, I have to know myself first. Also, I plan to be more of a listening partner than a talking one all the time. It will allow me to be calmer and more composed when it is my time to express my views (Serrat,2017). Besides, when I listen to others, I will get the same reception. Empathizing is a virtue; it will improve my social awareness skills. I will make sure to help whenever I am in a position to.
