Every patient desires to receive medical services from a competent medical practitioner. Patients rely on doctors to steer their paths to recovery by providing quality healthcare services. However, some doctors have been sued for incompetence and malpractice, making it a daunting thought for patients who wish to receive adequate healthcare. The rise in the use of technology has made it possible for patients to access information on their doctors, including their licensing, education, and malpractice accusations. With such information, patients can now make informed decisions concerning the doctors they choose to help them.

Finding out whether one’s doctor has been sued for malpractice is vital as it informs the customers on the type of misconduct that one’s doctor is being accused of, as well as the next steps to take in case one realizes their doctor has been sued for malpractice (Bazemore, 2016). Some of the sites used to access doctor information include the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) website and DocFinder physician directory. These sites are informative and easy to use as long as one inputs the name of their doctor and the state in which they operate.

Paragraph with Observations

FSMB provides information on where a doctor went to medical school, their licensing information, and any possible history with the licensing board disciplinary. DocFinder also provides licensing information. I did not find the doctor I was looking for as there were no entries in the directories. The reason for missing this person could be because they do not have licensing issues, despite the possibility of having other malpractice accusations leveled against them. The sites should, therefore, have more information on malpractices, and not just licensing malpractices. Such information could be achieved through the use of the interwebs, such as google (Bazemore, 2016). The sites are relevant and more similar sites should be developed, but with modifications to include other forms of malpractice.
