How to Ensure a Group Is Communicating Effectively In a Virtual Meeting 

A group can communicate effectively in a virtual meeting by using communication gadgets that support both visual and audio displays to improve the communication such as enabling verbal and non-verbal communication messages displayed with ease. Also, have one person that regulates the communication and brings order enabling one person to communicate at a time. Finally, provide communication gadgets such as speakers that can enable all the members to listen to what their counterparts are saying in order to effectively respond and contribute.

How to Ensure That Each Team Member Understands What Next Steps Are Required To Achieve the Meeting's Goals 

Provide the agenda and topic of the meeting in advance to members to enable them research and prepare for the meetings. The person preparing the agenda and meeting has to provide contacts to members who can consult and clarify any issue before the meeting to help achieve the meeting goals with ease. The agenda has also to be presented in a clear and simple manner that shows the items that follow in the meetings systematically to allow a smooth transition from one step to the other (Gutmann, 2013). 

The Characteristics of Effective Teams 

Effective teams are disciplined where members strictly adhere to the group’s rules and regulations to the later. They discuss their agenda and goals objectively. The teams are well organized with committed leadership. Each member plays an active role in the team and the teamwork as a system where the roles played by each member if equally respected and appreciated. 

How Roles, Needs, and Diversity Affect Teamwork 

They affect teamwork by determining the organization structure of teams. For example, the roles people play would impact the team goals either positively or negatively. When each member plays their role objectively, there is smooth running and administration of the group affairs. However, in a situation where some fail to perform their roles, it might result in conflict that might hinder the team performance and realization of their goals. The team needs form and guides the agenda and goals of the team to be achieved. Diversity brings the different experiences and perception in team agendas. 

The Components of Group Diversity 

The components of group diversity include gender, race, ideologies and individual potential and competencies, for example, in technological know-how and language among others.
