Identify the characteristics of a target group that are important to consider when planning a teaching session.
When planning a teaching session it is important to consider whether the target group comprises of individuals with high literacy levels, or low literacy levels. Additionally, it is important to establish the age, and clinical condition that is common among the individuals in the target group (Sasayama, 2018).

How can the learning needs of a target group be identified?
Assessment and identification of the learning needs of the target group may be accomplished through various techniques such as collecting individual data from each person through questionnaires or interviews. Once this information has been acquired, it can be used to determine the important topics that need to be addressed in the teaching session (Sasayama, 2018).
Describe an environment that is likely to enhance learning.
A conducive environment that can enhance positive learning should be able to motivate the learner to read. For instance, a learning environment that is inclusive ensures participation of all learners hence may enhance positive learning outcomes.
What resources are needed to teach a group?
The learning needs and styles of the target group will determine the resources needed. Some of the basic resources needed to teach include: a conducive room, teaching materials such as articles and textbook and projecting materials.
What are some of the barriers and facilitating factors that impact patient learning?
Some of the facilitating factors to patient education include: having the management prioritize on patient education, having additional educational resources being provided for patient education and assigning two or more nurses to each patient education shift. Barriers that impact patient education include: characteristics of the learner individual, i.e. the patient may have low literacy levels or may be ignorant and not willing to acquire more information, due to their busy schedule, the nurses may not have time perform the educator role and a patient’s limited stay in the hospital due rapid discharge (Bastable 2014).
How the needs of people with different learning styles can be addressed when teaching a one hour session to a group.
To ensure that each and every person’s learning needs are addressed, it’s important to ensure that different modalities of teaching are addressed in the teaching session. For instance, there are people who are visual learners; others are auditory leaners while others are kisthetic learners. To ensure that all these people are addresses, the educator should consider teaching by talking and using images, as well as actions (Sasayama, 2018).
