A recent regulation/political event that will impact home care is one of the recent overhaul of federal regulations for the first time in around 30 years targeting instituting changes among homecare agencies (Kaiser Health News, 2017) . The event will affect home care by requiring agencies offering such services to ensure that they are more responsive when it comes to their patients as well as their caregivers.
Based on the present political conditions, I see home care, acute care, or long-term care changing in the future. For instance, the federal regulations specify the situations under which the more than 12,600 care agencies should take part in Medicaid and Medicare, while offering services to over 5 million younger adults having disabilities and seniors via the government program. In this case, it will be possible to strengthen the rights of the patients significantly. Caregivers will need to ensure they have sufficient information on the patients’ care plans as well as engage with them (Kaiser Health News, 2017) . While these serve as key improvements, agencies offering home health will need to make sure that they coordinate the diverse services that they offer to patients in line with making sure that regiments for treatment are explained in a clear and timely manner.

In terms of my particular field related to healthcare, the changes I think might happen will be related to patient-centered care. In the past, for instance, patients used to serve as recipients of any services that home health organizations perceived as essential, based on the evaluations of the staffs and the physicians input. With the new regulations, however, I believe that patients will influence care plans since they will decide what they feel comfortable with as well as the things they need to achieve. In this case, the care agency will devise care plans with the individual circumstances of the patients in mind.
In my case, I have interest in offering home healthcare one day. I have passion for caring for old and disadvantaged people. As such, I believe that offering such services will allow the patients to feel appreciated and loved.
